Welcome to the ADEA/W.K. Kellogg Foundation Dental Student Outreach Program Explore Health Careers Website. This website has been created especially for you – Dental Student Outreach Program participants and parents.

The American Dental Education Association’s (ADEA) Explore Health Careers.org (EHC) website is a free, online health careers resource designed to explain and provide easy access to the vast array of career opportunities in health care. In collaboration with three ADEA/W.K. Kellogg Foundation Dental Student Outreach Program sites (DSOP): University of Michigan School of Dentistry, Howard University College of Dentistry, and University of Illinois at Chicago, ADEA has created an online educational and mentoring resource for parents, teachers, students and mentors. The educational component includes interactive, fun quizzes to teach children and parents about the value of oral health, general health, growth, and well-being.

Online Mentoring

The online mentoring component allows DSOP participants and dental students to interact with each other and staff/mentors through the Questions and Topics features on the website. Students can ask mentors questions and submit comments. The mentors can also provide prompts to guide a discussion thread on a particular topic. Groups can be created by topic, age-level or other interest and messages can be sent to these groups by the mentors and administrators. Participants can maintain their own profile on the My Profile page with a photo, and are also able to select career interests for further study. The objective of this component is to provide an opportunity for mentors to motivate students, encourage them to get involved, stay involved, and contribute to a community.

To become a mentor, please see our Mentor Agreement.

Interactive and fun quizzes

Interactive and fun quizzes were created to educate children and parents about the value of oral health, general health, growth, and well-being. The quizzes are meant to be a teaching tool with specific learning objectives in mind. The quizzes provide an opportunity to engage students and parents in an activity that inspires them to learn about the importance of oral health and health in general, while having fun at the same time.

This site is password protected and has been created exclusively for ADEA/W.K. Kellogg Foundation DSOP student participants, parents, program site administrators and dental students.
